NASA Goddard and the nonprofit Space Generation Advisory Council have joined forces for an explosive event like you’ve never experienced—a World Space Party. On Saturday, April 4 from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m., Goddard’s Visitor Center in Greenbelt, MD will transform into a club with a future-tech twist. The night air will be filled with infused beats spun by DJ Scientific and live music from regional music stars, Middle Distance Runner. A series of galactic activities are guaranteed to entertain. In 2008, hundreds celebrated humanity’s achievements in space at Yuri’s Night. Don’t miss this year’s event; it will be even more charged!

Sci-fi attire is encouraged at Yuri’s Night! Star Wars enthusiasts representing the Empire and the Rebel Alliance will patrol Yuri’s Night. Accurate replicas of Star Wars droids (including R2-D2!) built by the Washington, DC Metro Area R2-D2 Builders Club will trundle around the party.

Duff Goldman and his imaginative staff at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, MD will construct a spectacular 50th anniversary Goddard birthday cake for Yuri’s Night. The cake will creatively spotlight the Hubble Space Telescope, the space-based observatory that has revolutionized astronomy. Charm City Cakes is featured on Food Network's “Ace of Cakes.”

Space party goers must be at least 21 years old. Beer, wine, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission to Yuri’s Night is $10 in advance (ends 11:59 PM, Friday, April 3) and $20 at the door. Government issued ID required for entry into Yuri’s Night.

Yuri’s Night World Space Parties celebrate humanity’s achievements in space. Each April, parties around the world mark the anniversary of mankind’s first foray into space (April 12, 1961) and the first Space Shuttle flight (April 12, 1981). Goddard hosted Yuri’s Night DC for the first time in 2008.
